WHY I'M RUNNING<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00a0 Davis County deserves leadership that listens, plans, and delivers results. As Mayor of Bountiful, I\u2019ve had a front-row seat to the challenges facing our county\u2014and the responsibility of solving them. That starts with listening carefully to residents, understanding what\u2019s working and what\u2019s not, and taking action with purpose.<\/p>

\u00a0 For 12 years, I\u2019ve had stewardship over Bountiful\u2019s budget, helping maintain a lean, pay-as-you-go city that plans ahead and lives within its means. I bring a clear plan to the county: dig into the numbers, set smart priorities, and make disciplined decisions that protect taxpayers while preparing for the future. Kendalyn (Keyes) Harris<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\u00a0 was raised in Bountiful, Utah, the daughter of Cozette and the late Karl Keyes. A proud Viewmont High School graduate, she went on to earn bachelor\u2019s degrees in Political Science<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Communications<\/strong>\u00a0from the University of Utah. That same year, she married fellow Bountiful native\u00a0James Harris<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 and yes, they\u2019ve long since made peace with the Viewmont\u2013Bountiful High rivalry.<\/p>

\u00a0 Kendalyn\u2019s commitment to service started early and has guided every chapter of her life. During college, she interned at the Utah State Legislature<\/strong>\u00a0for two Representatives and was elected\u00a0President of the Senate<\/strong>\u00a0in the Utah Intercollegiate Assembly. She balanced leadership with hard work \u2014 serving as a\u00a0traffic reporter and weekend DJ<\/strong>\u00a0for 107.5 \u201cThe End,\u201d managing\u00a0K-UTE 1620 AM<\/strong>\u00a0as Station Manager, sitting on the\u00a0University Student Court<\/strong>, and learning to find her voice long before stepping onto a political stage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00a0 Her public service continued when Salt Lake City Mayor Deedee Corradini<\/strong>\u00a0appointed her to the\u00a0Community Development Block Grant Board<\/strong>, where she helped oversee funding decisions that directly impacted neighborhoods and families. She later coordinated housing during the\u00a02002 Winter Olympics<\/strong>\u00a0and worked as an\u00a0Office Supervisor at the University of Utah Hospital<\/strong>, experiences that strengthened her understanding of large systems, budgets, and the importance of attention to detail. While living in university housing, she was elected Finance Chair of the University Student Apartments<\/strong>, before returning home to Bountiful in 2005.<\/p>

\u00a0 Back in Davis County, Kendalyn stayed involved because she believes the best solutions come from listening to people where they live. She was elected President of the Davis County Republican Women<\/strong>, served as a\u00a0State GOP Caucus Education Ambassador<\/strong>\u00a0helping citizens engage at the grassroots level, and later spent two years on the\u00a0Utah Republican Party State Central Committee<\/strong>. In every role, her focus was the same: connect people, solve problems, and make government work better.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\u00a0 While raising her children, Kendalyn also gained firsthand experience running and growing small businesses. She founded and operated Pirate & Princess Parties<\/strong>, a birthday party company that earned a\u00a0Best-of-State award<\/strong>, creating jobs, serving families across the region, and contributing to the local economy. She has also served as\u00a0HR Manager for her husband\u2019s business, Sapphire Fountains<\/strong>, helping manage employees and operations. These experiences gave her a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities small businesses face \u2014 knowledge she brings to her work promoting economic development and supporting local entrepreneurs.<\/p>

\u00a0 These experiences laid the foundation for her next chapter \u2014 serving Bountiful as an elected official<\/strong>. For the past\u00a012 years<\/strong>, Kendalyn has had the honor of serving the people of Bountiful \u2014\u00a0eight years on the City Council and four years as Mayor<\/strong>. During that time, she prioritized the basics:\u00a0clean water, good roads, reliable utilities, and safe neighborhoods<\/strong>, while working to keep taxes and fees as low as possible. She didn\u2019t just attend meetings; she rolled up her sleeves and worked alongside residents, business owners, and regional partners to solve problems and move the community forward.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
